Facilities

Ohoka School is located on 2 ha of ground near the junction of Jacksons and Mill Road.  In addition to the land owned by the school a further 1.2 ha of land adjacent to the school is leased to further enhance the playing fields of the school.

The school buildings include:

  • 11 purpose built classrooms. The main block consists of 3 classrooms which have been refurbished but are part of the of old original school block which is more than 80 years old. Over the last five years we have had four new classrooms built.

  • 1 classroom has been renovated from  the old school library

  • School Hall

  • New Integrated learning centre (I.L.C).  The library is fully utilised by classes and groups of students and  is open each day from 12.45 – 1:15pm.  It is important that children look after the books and we suggest the younger children use a strong plastic bag to carry their books.  It is suggested that parents, especially those in the Junior school contact their child’s teacher to ascertain library day.

  • Swimming Pool which is open to all residents in the district.  A key system operates and pays in part for this facility.

  • 2 sealed areas suitable for tennis or basketball

  • All weather cricket pitch

  • 1x Rugby, and 1x soccer ground

  • Adventure Playground

  • New administration building and staff room

The Ministry of Education are currently negotiating to purchase land adjacent to the school. This fantastic effort effectively futureproofs the school for any future development.

The School and the Board of Trustees are also currently investigating options for a new multipurpose hall.
The hall project is intended to provide a venue for sports events and stage productions while
providing a number of additional teaching and storage spaces.

This exciting project is expected to take shape in 2008.

In Addition to the hall project, the school is undertaking a modernisation program for the network infrastructure that forms an integral part of the school environment.
