Steve Craven

Steve has been involved in a number of global roles over the past 25 years mostly with US Companies, in the finance arena. The last years 18 years were spent with Intel Corporation in the international business and management field, based in Europe, USA and Asia. He now, in partnership with his wife works as a business consultant.

Steve is married, (wife Moira); with 2 boys Matthew and Ben aged 6 and 4 respectively.  The family originally comes from the UK (South West) where they lived until June 2006, before immigrating to New Zealand.

Steve and Moira have moved onto an Olive block and spend their spare time (when not working on board work) tending to the olives.

Steve’s objectives for the board include the following:

  • Achieve outstanding academic results

  • Aid in the development of well rounded students

  • Fund and build first class facilities

  • Ensure sufficient day to day funding balanced with fiscal prudence

  • The School is an acknowledged asset of the community

  • Foster innovation and leverage technology

  • Be a leader not a follower

  • Have fun J

Steve enjoys most sports especially football, rugby, cricket, cycling and motor racing, although, due to injuries, his involvement is mostly restricted to that of a spectator these days. He loves diverse styles of music (including punk) and has recently taken up guitar lessons. Vintage cars are also a passion; he has a 1958 MGA, which provides the family with a lot of fun.  But most of all Steve enjoys spending time with his family.

Steve believes we’re extremely lucky to have an outstanding school with respectful children, high quality teaching staff and excellent facilities with a unique character, which is an integral part of, and great asset to the community. He also thinks we are fortunate to have a very creative and supportive PTA, who amongst other things, do a fantastic job of fundraising.  He is very proud to be part of a very talented and diverse Board of Trustees and hopes the board can leave a lasting legacy, by continuing to enhance and progress the school on all fronts for the betterment of our children and our community.

Steve admires ordinary people who achieve extraordinary things. “If you believe you can, you will, if you believe you can’t, you won’t” is one of his core philosophies
